A Fuhrer's Pride « Thread Started on Oct 15, 2005, 4:30pm »
Fuhrer Bradley sat at his desk, eyes narrowed as he peered out the window of his office on the highest floor of Central headquarters. Witness: here a child passed, smiling face radiant as she held her mother's hand and skipped down the street, there a teenage boy spying on some nearby girls with his buddies. How it made Fuhrer sick. "Naive creatures, humans are. Incorrigible scum, worthless nothings; they wouldn't even rank on the scale of cockroaches. How did the entire human race fall so low?" His eyes, slim as pencil-lines, whirled upon his desk, the bright ouroburos reflecting in his left orb as he glared down on the paperwork that awaited his signitures.
"What's this?" he asked, to no one in particular, as he lifted a sheet of parchment to his eyes and gave it the once-over with scorn. was this all he boiled down to, papers and hate, hate and papers? Someone in East needed a signiture on a marriage certificate, some man up North was suing the State for incompetency because a dragonling got into his yard and bit his ass. Trivial, meaningless matters.
Fuhrer sighed. "And I endure this why?" he asked, letting the question hang, empty, in the air.

The doors opened and Ryzen came in, carrying a folder with his scrawling writing form across the top. He walked in without a word, letting the doors shut, once more vanquishing the light that had filled the room when he had come in.
The navy blue uniform adorned his features, acidicly tipped hair fell into his face. Reacting quickly, he swept his hand up, purging them from his face. His lips were curved sownward just slightly in to a frown.
Striding forward towards the Fuhrer sitting at his desk. "Sir," he said bowing his head. His eyes stayed upon the Fuhrer as he set the manuscripts before Bradley. "I cry pardon for being a bit late, Sir. Unfortunately, my alarm clock did not go off so I did not get up until a few minutes ago. I hurried here as fast as I could."

Bradley's visible eye narrowed, and he cast a loathing glance at Ryzen, which quickly abated into the usual casual smile and closed eye. "No problem at all, Caliko. Please, take a seat." He gestured at a chair that was placed directly before his desk with one hand, but his other, unbeknownst the the man, dipped behind him to brush lightly against the hilt of his blade. It was time to make ammends for a past mistake; time to fix that with which he had so blatantly erred.
When the man before him was sitting, Bradley calmly stated, "These past few weeks, Lieutenant, I've heard a great deal of corruption has been occuring with the military; rumors spreading about inhumanities, homunculi as they are called, and of the military itself being involved in the deaths of thousands to create the mythical cure-all, the Philosopher's Stone. Now is it not true that we are guilty of both these charges? And yet the information is classified...or so it was. However," he stood, and his back was to his assistant. "I have reason to believe that there had been someone from the top leaking such information to the lower ranks...." He paused, then flashed an eye back over his shoulder at Ryzen; his eyepatched one, which, free now of the patch, glared at the young man with a bruning ouroburos.
"Tell me, Ryzen Caliko, what have you to say for yourself?"

Let it be known that Ryzen was confounded when asked to sit before the Fuhrer. Something inside his mind screamed at him to get the fuck out of there. But Ryzen was a good soldier and so he sat in the chair indicated by the Fuhrer.
As the Fuhrer spoke, Ryzen's heart began to beat lik a caged wild thing, his eyes remaining on the Fuhrer. "Sir...." He fumbled for words that would help him. For words that would alleviate the charges being made. "I know naught of ....of....." His eyes widened s they fell upon the ouroburos of the Fuhrer's eye. Hands clenched around the chair's arms, his body rigid with fear. How close he came to letting his hand dive for his weapon. Damn his idiocy for forgetting it today! Damn it Damn it Damn it!
"You are the Fuhrer Sir..." He said, voice amazingly steady. ""What right do I have to speak out against you? None. I am your assistant. Nothing more."

"That's right," Fuhrer responded, turning now to entirely face Ryzen with the strangest of visages plastered upon his features. Bradley's right eye was closed in his cordial, gentle manner, but his left was wide open, and the ouroburos held within was the only sign of his rage, for it throbbed consistantly with his anger and hatred, dissipating never, decreasing never. His mouth was indifferent. "You are my assistant; nothing more. You're a human, nothing more. You could never be. What then, and it puzzles me, brought you to let information so important as the truths of my kind, and the truths that could bring the downfall of the military itself slip..." his voice rose ever the slightest, "into the hands of one of the Flame Alchemist's subordinates?? Answer for yourself."
At the same moment in time, the room had gradually begun to fill. The door was pushed open and a long line of younger, yet stern-faced recruits entered. It seemed every one of them had hair the color of coal, and eyes like frozen ice. But this was not what made the the military crew so frightening; it was the fact that every one of them was a trained sharpshooter, and now bore against their shoulder a large musket that was the true chill. And, as they lined the room, a firing squad of nearly thirty men, with ten on the left, ten on the right, and ten in front of the door, theysaid not a word, nor did Bradley address them, or Ryzen; he merely stood, blocking the last exit with his own imposing form, awaiting an answer.

I didn't know it was so important, sir. No one ever said anything about not being able to tell anyone. But if it considered as treason, then so be it. I comitted the act and I will justly pay for it." His eyes flicked to the firing squad came in. On instinct, Caliko stood up, a snarl on his face.
His eyes darted to the window behind the Fuhrer but his mind forbid it. That would get him shot the second he took the first step. What to do? Nothing... he thought. Nothing but stand here and take what was coming to him. Take it....like Cody did...
"Kid, did you or did you not try and kill our leader?" The boy, no more then eleven years old, stood in the center of a group of State officers. Ryzen was hiding in the empty water barrel nearby.
"Yeah, I killed him...well...I tried to. What're you going to do to me? Kill me with a gun? That's nothing! Nothing compared to what you did to my country.!"He was shot right then, on the spot. Hot tears streaked down Ryzen's face, still only six years old. Cody had been his idol and his best friend. He wasn't supposed to die!!
That day, Ryzen knew he would be just like Cody was. Brave and strong hearted.
Ryzen glared at the firing squad, standing straight and tall. Bring it on... He thought...

"Not important?" Bradley mused; "Such a secret as that, not important?" That genial smile fluttered across his pale lips again, and, though his hand hadn't touched it, his eyepatch flipped back down over his ouroburos, settling into place like a dove gone from its roost and now returned. "What a sad fate for you then, Mr. Caliko..." Bradley smiled still, though one could tell he was on edge; he didn't like killing; it was such a fuss, just like most other things that had any relation to the human race. His fingers drummed on his desk, the squad stood at the ready. "Very well then. Ryzen Caliko, let the firing squad be witness: as of today, I'm afraid I must challenge you with the treason of loosing military secrets through the ranks; even if it was unintentional, you are still to be terminated, however, i will allow you to at least keep that shred of what you humans call dignity."
"Choose your death, mr. Caliko. They can splatter your brains right here on my walls," he raised his upper lip in disgust at that thought, "Or I'll have you blindfolded, chained, de-alchemitized, and taken to the firing grounds, where we'll be sure to give you a proper shooting." Without giving a moment's pause, Fuhrer demanded, 'Choose!" It was very noticable in his eyes that he remembered the so-called "bad blood" from which this boy descended; it made him want to shake his head in revulsion. When would humanity learn its place?
Re: A Fuhrer's Pride « Reply #7 on Nov 25, 2005, 12:08am »
Ryzen turned his glare upon the Fuhrer and listened to the Sin. He was being accused of treason. But did that change what his decision would be? Not at all.
"I will not die through a 'proper' shooting. Or whatever you call it. If I die, then I will die standing, facing what I know is coming. To be blindfolded is a sign of injustice to one's honor and pride. I will die here, and now."
God, had he known what helping Lieutenant Havoc would have gotten him, he would've stayed a jack ass. Never helped Havoc in the first place. No, Ryzen liked helping people. It's what Cody wouldv'e done if he had been in Ryzen's position. God, Cody....helpp me....please...
ooc: I know...It's a bit short. I'm sorry, Erin.

(It's okay, my darling. It's very late - you must get some rest, please, I order you to, if that is what you wish of me to do. I beseech you - please get to bed....for me? I must adjourn for the night as well...Love you!)
Bradley nodded his head. 'Very well then," he said, and at the same exact instant, thirty guns were lifted upon thirty strong shoulders, thirty barrels aimed at the heart of the man standing before them. Bradley raised his right hand, as if to say, "On your mark", like it was some sort of twisted race to see who could shoot the boy first. Instead, however, he cautioned his men, "Aim true. I'd rather my office not see such gore so early in the morning; the less blood, the better. Is that clear?"
"Sir, yes sir," replied the recruits as one.
"Aim...Ryzen, I do apologize for this inconvenience. But traitors are traitors, even if purpose isn't their suitor...And you were such a good little assistant too....If you have any last words, best say them now, boy....Farewell." His hand dropped after giving a second's pause for any confessions that Caliko might make, giving the sign to shoot, and he turned his back on the whole scene as the as the sound of gunfire littered the room.

Ryzen did not shut his eyes. His eyes raced across thirty faces and his fists clenched tightly. Sure, he wanted to close his eyes....but.... doing so....that would disgrace his valor. Or whatever he had left of it.
"You are not the only one to carry your Sin, Fuhrer. Everyone carries a Sin. I don't care who you are....you do..." A searing pain pierced his heart, blasting it to shreds. He fell to the floor, eyes closing, one thought running through his head. I said I come for you Cody. I am to fufill that promise now.
ooc: ^^ I will....as soon as I'm finished. I have all day tomorrow to sleep.

----------Elsewhere in Central-----------
Lightning yawned, her mouth twisting open quite wide to emit a large sighing yawn. Her fists rubbed slightly at her eyes, and when one of the lesser recruits offered her a cup of coffee, she was more than happy to take it, even if the horrid-tasting stuff felt like bile going down her throat. She'd not slept a wink that night; been too preoccupied with thoughts of Mustang and Kimbree....and Greed. Damn her; she was such a fool to think that maybe, just maybe, she could get any of them to return even the slightest of affection for her, and now, of course, she was head over heels for the latter, but she refused to admit it. Ah, her heart ached almost as much as the hangover that raveged her head as she sat in the cafeteria, her uniform-suited body at attention in one of the rickety old chairs (The state had no room for expenditures, Bradley had often said).
That's when she heard it; a low voice on the intercom, but a familiar one: "Brigadier General Lightning, please report to the Fuhrer's office immediately", which repeated itself several extra times just to make sure she was listening. Curiosity piqued, she stolled down the hallway, mumbling, "Yeah, yeah, I'm coming, keep your patch on you old bag..." Complaints stopped however the second she reached the door to Bradley's office; for just as she was about to enter, a company of some thirty or so men brushed by her, guns at their shoulders. She raised a brow, and made to step into the room as they departed, her voice cold as she asked, "Was that the firing squad I just-" There was a pause, and an electric shock passed through her body as she saw the corpse stretched out before her, its blood soaking the ground still from a fresh wound. But this was not just any corpse: from the many times she'd been around Alina, she knew those acid-tipped locks..."Ryzen?" she squeaked, but immediately forced her voice back under her control, making her face appear indifferent.
"So you know him?" Bradley asked, his arms behind his back, his body standing like an obelisk at the forefront of the room, dark, regular eye watching her.
"You could say we're aquaintances...is he dead, sir? What did he do to deserve such punishment if I might ask?" She took a step forward, but made no move to inspect the body. Oh....dear God...Rosalie...she'd be heartbroken when she found out. No, no, no! Lightning shook her head slowly, her mind reeling, teeth clenching behind a closed mouth....this couldn't be how the story was written....Then again, sins and virtues alike were never much ones for fairy tales...
"Quite dead on the premise of treason."
"Treason!" Lightning blurted, taken aback.
"He has given information to the enemy, even if it was not conciously on his part; he has still sinned, and therefore he is dead now. I called you here, before you ask me, to take that man's body and dispose of it; the less who know of his death, the better, and the firing squad is not trained to hide and/or dispose of bodies.."
"Not even a proper funeral?"
"Never will I let a funeral be held for a traitor."
She nodded, and gently lifted up the dead form of the young man into her arms; for she was quite strong; cradled him there, and turned to leave without another word. Her mind was racing. She had to bring this boy back...but that would mean...oh...she couldn't, she just couldn't. Let the dead lie..
Bradley, whose suspicions always rang true, for that was his power, further apprehended her plot by stating, "Oh, and Brigadier?"
"Sir?" she paused, her back to him, voice all indifference and darkness.
"If you are considering playing with taboos...know this: you go against my judgment, I'll make sure you pay. Father never said we had to play nicely with your kind, just watch over you until you could handle yourselves."
His ouroburos eye was once more revealed, and it was boring into her back as she stood. What a chilled, frightning feeling...and yet she wasn't afraid. Without turning, she nodded her head and repeated, "Sir." As the continued for the door, she sent up a mental plea... 'Please, please....someone, anyone come help me with this...I don't know how to bring a homunculus to life; I can't...' Then took her leave.

Lean body arched as he lifted his hands above his head and stretched. He was here to bother Pride. Though... if he found someone else that would be more fun to annoy, he'd go with them.
He rolled off the little couch that sat in the hallway and walked towards the doors that opened into the Fuhrer King Bradley's office. but when he was half way there, he halted, seeing those doors open. Eyebrows knitted together in puzzlement as Erin Lightning, Alina's best friend, exited Pride's room, carrying a dead body. A dead body that he knew. Ryzen Caliko. Alina's former subordinate.
A cruel, wicked smirk coursed his lips and he folled his arms across his chest. "Hiding the body, Fortitude? I never thought you'd be the type to help the Fuhrer like that."

"Mind your tongue, Envy, you know I wouldn't ever bow to the great "Fuhrer"'s will...." Erin admonished, her pace down the hall continued, but she paused as if waking from a trance, and her eyes lifted from the dead figure she carried so tenderly and, instead, they landed upon the palm-haired homunculus. Such a beast he was, such a horrible monster in both her heart and her mind, such a perfect element of injustice to her for all he had done to her, and all he was now. Those burning neon green locks of his, that pale form, that serpent's snarl..."Envy!" she exclaimed, taken almost by suprise as she finally realized that he wasn't just a figment of her imagination, invented at this time to toture her. "Perfect!"
She turned to face him entirely now, and, holding up the body in her arms, she muttered, "He's dead, but not cold...his soul's still at the Gate...tell me, Envy, you were there when Father created me...what do I have to do to turn him into one of us, for that is what I intend to do. One of my sisters needs him; I'm not about to let her down. Even if Fuhrer King..." A grimace etched itself across her face, "Even if Fuhrer King Faggot doesn't want it; I'm bringing this kid back, and you're gonna help me, got that, Envy? It's not a request, it's a demand...just like you were demanded to do it before to me and so many others by Father....You're going to do it...or at least point me in the right direction." Shifting the young man in her arms, she raised one hand to brush Ryzen's locks back out of his sightless eyes, allowing him at least that courtesy. Her hand paused as it touched his flesh; it was already cooling to that of a corpses. Unlike the creations of the sins, virtues needed that warmth...time ran short.
"Envy, there's not much time...torment me all you wish later, but tell me now: What do I have to do?"
Re: A Fuhrer's Pride « Reply #13 on Nov 25, 2005, 11:39am »
Envy raised an eyebrow in obvious amusement. "Do you really want him back that badly? You could always take him to our Father." Envy spat the last word, a snarl contorting his features. With a sigh, he thpught about it. If Ryzen was brought back, he'd owe allegiane to Erin for doing so. But if Envy helped Erin, Caliko would owe alliegiance to Erin and Envy. And Envy already had two other homunculi working for him. Another inhuman addition would make him that much more powerful. Make the other sins that much more....envious of him.
Grinning, he looked at Erin. "Alright. I'll help. But as you said, we don't have a lot of time. Come on...Let's get out of here." He strode past her.
----------------------------Some abandoned ware house in Central ><----------------------
"Alright lay him there on that table." Envy pointed to a moderately clean table. "He's already somewhat dead. Ok...all the way dead but we have an hour or so before he's really gone." He closed his eyes, thinking back to when he had helped Hohenheim (that bastard) make the Virtues.
"I'm pretty sure father used somekind of transmutation circle. I can't remember too clearly. But he forced the philosopher's stone into your heart. He had you strapped down but that was because you were still living...." Envy continued, telling Erin everything she'd need to know to make Ryzen into a Virtue.
"Hurry though...." He said, finally finishing telling her everything. A vicious smile made its way onto his face. "You're running out of time..."

"I'm hurrying, all right? Goddamn you're pushy for someone who's not going to physically help.." She paced back and forth next to where Ryzen lay, and sighed exasperatedly. "Damn...where am I going to get a stone this quick? The military doesn't have ones that would work...wait..." Her eyes cast, like a ravenous animal's, on Envy's. "Envy, you've got a stone don't you? Even if they're imperfect, I'm damn sure you've got one or two to spare don't you? If not...well, there's always your blood. If I remember anything that bastard taught me, it's that sins have the stone directly in their bloodstream; you body automatically produces an equivalent of the stone; us virtues don't. Either way, get a move on it," she demanded, her eyes dark and focused. They seemed so much like her unnatural, adoptive father's, like Hohenheim's, as she turned back to the body stretched before her and put all of her focus into observing what sort of circle she could use.
"Sacrifice wouldn't work..." she murmured under her breath, "Neither would...well...maybe....this goes here..." Her hands moved forward, and, with a murmured apology to the body, she tore ruthlessly at Ryzen's uniform, just above his heart, exposing his bare flesh. Running a finger over it....damn it was cold already, barely there...."Hurry, Envy.." she chided, and, at the same time, she traced her finger across Ryzen's unmoving form, a long line appearing wherever she touched him. As she worked, she murmured, "Man, rightside up, God, upside down, as if in scorn, encased in the fire, and then bound by the four-sided heaven and earth matrixes...." Her eyes focused harder; this had to work!

Envy rolled his eyes. "Yeah, they're in our blood stream. What of it?" He listened further and frowned. "Use my stones?" An exagerrated sigh left his lips and he transmutated his hand into a set of claws. Swiping it across his fore arm, he held out the now bleeding arm to her. "There you are. " He said, amused at her distraught behavior.
"What are you babbling about Fortitude?" True she was Gluttony's opposite, but she could be considered just as crazy. Far from as fat, infact Gluttony's exact oppsite, but just as crazy. But smart, unlike Gluttony. Roley-poley was beyond stupid. Envy shook his head and watched Erin.

Lightning's eyes narrowed as she swiped her finger across Ryzen's chest, trying her hardest to work a circle into existance with all of the blood in the way. In essence, it was a plain circle, only the outside rim of it was inscribed with alternating patterns of what appeared to be scripture of some sort; three triangles, one inside of another, were centered in the middle of the circle and a square enclosed all three of them. In the very, very center of the middle triangle was a small double-mountain symbol, with a blaze atop it, much like what Roy bore on his gloves. As she worked, she spoke to Envy, "It's what father taught me; you left before then, remember? Said something about 'the bloody repast is at an end; cya fuckers...' or near that...But he taught me a little bit of his alchemy...you see this?" She pointed at the scriptures. "Alternating, man facing the ground, God facing the sky, so that the two are in scorn of each other...it's key element in alchemy..."
She paused to look at him as he cut himself, and happened to let the stray thought cross her mind; 'Maybe he's not so bad...' Then she remembered why he was helping her and she frowned scornfully; he just wanted a new pawn to fuck with...shaking her head, she gestured at the body. "Hold your wrist over the wound he's got in his heart; I'm activating the circle now. Here goes nothing..." She brushed a small deal of sweat from her brow with the back of one hand, her eyes pinpointing the young man's wound as she brought her hands together with a sudden clap, then placed them on either side of the wound. The circle blazed bright, flourescent blue...burning in color and on touch....
Re: A Fuhrer's Pride « Reply #17 on Nov 25, 2005, 4:38pm »
Envy rolled his eyes. "Whatever.... I don't care what Father taught you. He's still a fucking ass hole and I'm still gonna kill him." He watched as she drew the circle onto Ryzen's chest. "Come on, hurry up. I'm not going to keep cutting myself." Indeed the wound had already healed. He flicked the claw across his arm again and it began bleeding once more.
Holding his arm over Ryzen's wound, he watched his blood drip into the boy. "This better work, Fortitude. Or I'll kick your ass." His blood crystalized inside Ryzen as Erin's alchemy flashed in the darkness.
A low groan escaped his cold lips. A ragged scream followed as the wound on his chest closecd up over the incomplete philosopher's stone. And on his right arm, near the shoulder joint, a red mark began to appear, slowly taking shape into the ouroburos. Seconds later, his scream ended, leaving the room undesirably quiet. Slowly, painstakingly slowly, his eyes opened. "Wha--? Where am I? I thought....Cody!" He sat up, eyes flicking around. His grey green irises had taken on a ring around the edge, the same color of the Sin's eyes.
